Join us for a discussion with our local legislators on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at noon via Zoom.

Our panelists are:

Representative Mike Marron, Representative of District 104 - Rep. Mike Marron is a small business owner and operates a family farm with his father in rural Vermilion County. He served as the Chairman of the Vermilion County Board, where he was responsible for managing and administering the daily operations of Vermilion County’s $40 million annual budget. Previously, he represented District 2, and then served as Vice Chair of the Vermilion County Board. He also previously served as Supervisor of Pilot Township.

Rep. Marron was a member of Governor Rauner’s transition team on agriculture issues; having previously served as Vice Chair, Secretary-Treasurer, and as a Representative of District 7 for the Illinois Soybean Association. He was a five-time representative of Illinois Farm Bureau and the Illinois Soybean Association to Capitol Hill in Washington. He has also served as an ISA ambassador to Brazil, and China and has also participated in multiple trade missions, including to Haiti, Colombia, Mexico, and Ghana.

In addition to his service to Illinois agriculture and to the citizens of Vermilion County, Rep. Marron is an active leader in the community. Mike had previously served as Chair for the Danville Family YMCA fundraising campaign, as a member of the Danville Public Library Foundation Board of Directors, and as a member of the Bismark Lion’s Club and the Royal Sons of the American Legion. He resides in Vermilion County with his wife and daughter.

Senator Chapin Rose - Chapin Rose was raised in central Illinois, along with his wife, Camille. Rose attended Charleston High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Economics from the University of Illinois. After graduation, Rose attended the University of Illinois College of Law. Before being elected to the legislature, Rose served as a Senior Assistant State’s Attorney in Champaign County where he prosecuted felony crimes.

Prior to becoming a member of the Illinois Senate in 2013, Rose served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 until 2013. Rose is currently an Assistant Republican Leader in the caucus.

Rose was selected to participate in the inaugural class of the 2012 Edgar Fellows Leadership Program. He has also been cited numerous times by the Illinois Farm Bureau and small business groups for his work in supporting pro-job creation and pro-agriculture policies in Springfield. Rose and his wife, Camille, live in Mahomet and have four children.

Kyle Bakes - Legislative aid for Representative Davis.  Kyle is originally from South Florida but has a variety of ties to Illinois. He attended Lynn University, a small liberal arts college and has worked for Congressman Davis for more than two years, starting out as an intern. He handles issue areas such as Housing, Animal Welfare, Postal, and Oversight/Government Reform.
